The Walkable Community
Silver Lake Village represents the efforts and vision of many people—St. Anthony Village officials, local business interests, and the general public—who saw redevelopment of the former Apache Plaza site as a responsibility, a challenge and above all an opportunity.

The village concept as expressed in Silver Lake Village was greatly influenced by the writing of Ray Oldenburg, Celebrating the Third Place. In his book, Oldenburg speaks of the places and ways people satisfy their human need for connection, and he discusses the ways in which such interaction has been zoned to near extinction in America since the end of WWII. A ‘village’ concept with many ‘third places’ for human interaction was the vision for Silver Lake Village, and it is the very nature of the Silver Lake Village experience. You must really come visit and experience for yourself what a special place it is.
