The neighborhood projects are judged on aesthetic appeal, land plan, retention of natural features, amenities such as parks and trails, neighborhood structures like mailboxes and signage, and traffic flow within and to each neighborhood. The Bennie Awards are divided into three different categories – single-family, association-maintained, and “new”. “New” neighborhoods are defined as combining a variety of different housing types, a retail or commercial component and a pedestrian-friendly design. This category adds judging criteria for mixed-use opportunities, range of types and prices, and pedestrian appeal. |
